Motorschirmfliegen in Indonesien 2008
Diese Galerie enthält Bilder einer Motorschirmreise durch Indonesien im April 2008, die die Teilnehmer zu spektakulären Flügen über pulsierenden Städten, einsamen Küsten, weit übers offene Meer hinaus und auf einen aktiven Inselvulkan führte. Dabei waren Jan Schäfer, Wolfgang Stark, Thomas Keller, Till Middelhauve (Deutschland) und der Organisator Anwar Soerjomataram (Indonesien).
Höhepunkt der Reise war sicherlich der geglückte Flug knapp 50 km hinaus auf's offene Meer zu dem aktiven Vulkan Krakatau und die dortige Landung am Strand. Der Flug wurde von einem Boot begleitet, die Piloten trugen Schwimmwesten. Der Vulkan galt an diesem Tag im Umkreis von 2 km um die Insel als „gefährlich“. Lokale Kenner versicherten uns aber, dass das Betreten auf der (krater-abgewandten) Nordseite vertretbar sei. Der Vulkan brach schon beim weiten Flug hinaus regelmäßig vor uns aus und warf große Aschewolken in den Himmel, die dann Cumulus-Wolken bildeten. Als wir näher kamen, konnten wir bei den Eruptionen auch die Lava-Brocken fliegen sehen. Diese gingen aber alle südöstseitig nieder. Eine Landung an der kleinen bewaldeten Ecke der Insel erschien sicher. Dennoch musste ich Jan im Endanflug aus der Luft zufunken: „Eruption rechts, Lavaflug. Halt Dich weiter links über'm Meer!“. Nach der Landung fühlten wir uns, als stünden wir neben einem Walzwerk: Die Ausbrüche ließen die Insel leicht erschüttern und verbreiteten beeindruckendes Donnergrollen!
Hier gezeigt werden die Bilder der Fotografen Thomas Keller, Jan Schäfer und Till Middelhauve. Jeder hat eine eigene Auswahl erstellt, die hier in Ordnern abgelegt sind. Ein Ordner zeigt die „Best Of“-Selektion aller drei Fotografen. Nur diese Galerie ist kommentiert.

Kalianda:
- Flug entlang der wilden Küste mit einsamen Buchten von Bandar Lampung nach Kalianda
- Soaring an Steilküsten mit abgestelltem Triebwerk
- Flüge über den tropischen Wäldern und Reisfeldern der Gegend
Aktiver Vulkan Krakatau:
- Flug von Kalianda ca. 20 km aufs Meer hinaus zu einer vorgelagerten Insel zum Tanken
- Weiterflug weitere 25 km hinaus aufs offene Meer zum Vulkan Krakatau
- Landung am Strand der kleinen Insel trotz stetiger Lava-Eruptionen

- Flüge am schwarzen Strand von Parangtritis
- 40 km Flug vom Strand nach Yogyakarta zu den Tempeln von Prambanan
- Flug von Prambanan hinauf zum Vulkankegel des Merapi und dann zu den Tempeln von Borobudur

Powered Paragliding in Indonesia 2008
This gallery contains pictures of a powered paragliding journey through Indonesia in April 2008. It led the participants to spectacular flights over bustling cities, lonely coasts, out to the open sea and to an active island volcanoe. Pilots where Jan Schäfer, Wolfgang Stark, Thomas Keller, Till Middelhauve (Germany) and the organizer Anwar Soerjomataram (Indonesia).
Climax of the journey definitly was a successful flight 50 km out to the open sea to the active volcanoe of Krakatau and the landing on the beach there. The flight was followed by a boat, the pilots were wearing life wests. On that day the volcanoe was classed as „dangerous“ within 2 km around the island but locals encouraged us that entering the (off the cater) north side of the island would be safe. The volcanoe was erupting regularly while we approached it and was throwing out clouds of ashes which than formed cumulus clouds. When we came closer we could notice flying lava stones in the eruptions. They were falling towards the southeasterly side. A landing to the small woody corner of the islands felt OK. Anyway I had to call Jan on the radio while his approach for landing: „Eruption to the right, flying lava, keep left over the sea!“. After landing we felt like standing beside a steel-mill: The eruptions made the island vibrate and created impressive sounds of thunder!

Million city Bandar Lampung / South-Sumatra
- Flying over the city

- Crossing the bay of Bandar Lampung as a first test for flying over open water
Kalianda:
- Flying along the wild coast with lonely bays from Bandar Lampung to Kalianda
- Soaring steep cliffs with cut off engine
- Flying over tropic forests and rice fields of the area
Active volcanoe Krakatau:
- Flight from Kalianda 20 km out to the sea to a first island for refueling
- Continuing the flight for 25 km more out to the sea to the Krakatau volcanoe
